I’m excited to launch a first in a series of creative brief challenges that will test your design skills and give you projects for your portfolio. These creative briefs are inspired by projects I work on every day in my studio and will prepare you for your design journey whether you’re a student, freelancer or work for a studio/agency. Check back often for new creative briefs and submit your projects for a chance to win prizes!
The Creative Brief
For an (imaginary) lifestyle magazine article that consists of 3 pages.
You have full creative freedom to create your own magazine article and decide the content such as the title of the magazine, article, copy, and photos. The topic must incorporate a lifestyle genre. Examples include but aren’t limited to arts and culture, outdoor, fashion, health and beauty, etc.
• Use an image that spans across two pages
• Format article text in two columns
• Use a no more than three fonts
• Create and style a block quote somewhere in the article
Resources & Tips
• Source your images that emphasize the topic of your magazine article
• Pair fonts that compliment each other well such as a strong serif font as the headline and a san serif font for the body paragraph or vice versa

Your entry must include a finished design submitted as a PDF. Include a comment about your process when you attach your PDF. Submission details below.
We will choose 1 winner to receive a Storyboard Template. This template makes it easy to plan out your publications before starting the design process. The winning submission will also be featured on the Design Like a Pro Youtube channel and Facebook page.

Submit Your Design
Join the Pixel Fam on Discord and submit your entry to the Design Challenge channel there. You may submit a PDF of your design directly to the Discord channel, or link to it via a Behance project. Once you join, you’ll be able to enjoy other benefits of the Discord including design critiques and a chance to interact with our community. You’ll also be the first to know about upcoming live streams and Design Challenges.
